Finding ways to cook fun yet nutritional meals can be a challenge. But it doesn’t have to be!
The key is to learn how to understand and navigate your local grocery story and become a savvy shopper. Some items that may seem nutritious and healthy may have ingredients hiding that are not that good for you.
Summit Health is offering free grocery store tours on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Giant Food Store, 925 Norland Ave., Chambersburg.
The tours are led by a Registered Dietitian from Chambersburg Hospital. Participants will be able to ask questions, learn how to avoid grocery store pitfalls, and how to incorporate MyPlate into grocery shopping.
“Grocery shopping is a regular activity for many families, so we wanted to take this chance to explain how to make better choices,” said Julie Charnosky, director of Food and Nutrition Services at Chambersburg Hospital.
“We often tell patients to eat healthier, but what does that really look like and how can you make better decisions?”
Space is limited for the tour and registration is required. To register, call (717) 262-4472 or visit SummitHealth.org/ShopHealthy.
